Sometimes you knead a snack to feed your rolls.
Ingredients
Rolls
- 325g of flour
- 42g of sugar
- 7g of yeast
- 6g of salt
- 78g of butter (softened)
- 122g of warm water
- 116g of warm milk
- 1 large egg
Honey Butter Glaze
- 35g of butter
- 20g of honey
Instructions
- Add sugar and flour into a mixing bowl
- Using your fingers, dig a trench in the middle of mixture. If possible try to have one side slightly higher than the other
- Pour the yeast on the high side of the trench
- Pour the salt on the low side of the trench
- Place the butter in the trench
- Pour the warm water in the trench
- Pour the warm milk in the trench
- Crack the egg and put it in the trench
- Mix everything together until it forms a dough
Note: This is a very wet and sticky dough. It will not "ball" like a standard bread dough. - Once mixed, flour your workspace generously and turn out the dough
- Knead the dough, sprinkling fresh flour as necessary until the dough is light and smooth
- Lightly grease a bowel and place the dough inside, cover with cling film, and allow the dough to prove
- Allow the dough to prove until it has roughly doubled in size
- Shape the dough into little balls, or roll it out into a strip and slice into smaller pieces
- Place the dough balls on a cookie sheet and allow it to prove until they are roughly double in size
- Make the Honey Butter Glaze by melting the butter and honey in a small pan
- Brush the rolls with the glaze, perhaps saving a bit for glazing after baking
- Bake at 400℉ for 10-15 minutes (until golden brown)
