An demonic, quick-drying icing, that notoriously doesn't taste so good.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons of meringue powder
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 6 tablespoons of water
Alternate Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract can be substituted for 1 tablespoon of water to give the icing a flavor
- 2 large egg whites and 2-4 teaspoons of lemon juice can be used in place of the meringue powder and water
- 1 tablespoon of corn syrup to 1 cup of icing can be added to give the icing a shine
Instructions
Makes about 6 dozen medium-sized cookies.
- Beat at low speed until the egg whites/powder & water forms peaks (but not dry). (Usually about 7 to 10 minutes)
- Add the sugar and beat for about 1 minute more. Add color at this time if you wish to use it.
Notes
Add more egg whites / powder and water if the icing is too thick
Add more powdered sugar if the icing is too thin
Important: There is a small possibility that the egg whites could transmit salmonella bacteria. This is why use of the meringue powder is preferred.
